Martha Adline Ethridge was the tenth child born to David Ethridge. She was the first born child of David's second wife, Susan Matilda Mayfield Ethridge.

She was married to Charles "Charlie" Jefferson Bowen on 26 Dec 1886. Charlie's mother was Eliza (or Elizabeth) "Jane" Etheridge, the daughter of Shepherd Etheridge and his third wife Matilda Evans. David Ethridge and Eliza "Jane" Etheridge were half brother and sister, so Martha Adline Ethridge would be her mother-in-law's niece.

1. Mary Jane "Janie" Bowen, 1888-1970, married to Samuel Telfire Warbington
2. Hiram D. Bowen, 1891-1972, married to Bertha Mae Gilbert

4. Mattie Lee Bowen, 1908-1983, married to William Henry Brady

At the time of the 1900 census, Martha and Charles indicate that she has given birth to five children, only two of whom are living, Mary J. and Hiram.
