Waynesboro
Viola Ruth Peiffer, 85, a resident of Piney Mountain, Fayetteville, since 1979, and formerly of 306 W. Eighth St., Waynesboro, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 1994, in Chambersburg Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1909, in Letterkenny Township, she was a daughter of the late Aaron G. and Carrie Sleighter Peiffer.
She attended the public schools of Waynesboro, and was employed at the former Waynesboro Knitting Co.
She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro.
Surviving are a brother, J. Norman, and a sister, Helen L. Minnich, both of Waynesboro; seven half sisters, Lenora Shatzer of Hagerstown, Md., Kathryn O'Donnel and Saundra Huber, both of Fayetteville, Mary Jane Hoffman of Waynesboro, Margaret Wagaman of Mont Alto, Shirley Speelman of Chambersburg, and Trudy Wagaman of Springfield, Va.; six half brothers, Charles A., Kenneth L., Lowell E. and Gerald E., all of Waynesboro, Arthur G. of Hagerstown, and Frederick D. of Mercersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home Inc. The Rev. Dr. Wilber L. Sites Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Salem United Brethren Cemetery in Greene Township. There will be no viewing or visitation.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Piney Mountain, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville 17222.
