Glen Edward Acree, age 79, of Fulton, Missouri passed away at his home on Monday May 30, 2011.

Glen was born March 31, 1932, in Callaway County, Missouri, the son of Gordon Wright Acree and Nellie (Corvey) Acree. On September 26, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marlene (Vandelocht) Acree who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife of fifty eight years, Marleen, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Debra Lynn Harris of Fulton, Missouri and Julie Dee Arnett ( Richard) of Columbia, Missouri; three grandchildren, Glen Overton Harris (Natasha) of Fulton, Missouri, Brianne Nicole Arnett and Cory Justin Arnett of Columbia, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lynn Harris and Joshua Fowler of Fulton, Missouri;
Glen's parents and a son Jeffrey Edward Acree preceded him in death.

Glen graduated from Fulton High School in 1950 and attended the University of Missouri before entering the Military. He was a Sargeant and served as a supply records specialist with the 388 Evacuation Hospital of the United States Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the service he was associated with his father in the lime and phosphate business until 1956 from 1956. In1995 he was head of the shipping department at Harbison Walker Refractories.

Glen was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Fulton, Missouri, served on the American Red Cross Board as chair and board member for over thirty years, was on the Board of the Fulton Housing Authority, a Volunteer Driver for the Humane Resources Corporation, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Callaway County Historical Society and the Callaway County Library.

Glen was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his church and was a great friend to many people. Glen was an avid golfer and started the Annual Tournament in Callaway County.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulton with Reverend Rudy Beard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church Private interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Presbyterian Church or to the Callaway County disaster fund of the American Red Cross.
