Funeral services for James Walter Lucas, 84, were held at the Mt. Salem Church on March 25, following his death at the Stanford Hospital on the 23rd.
He was born in Casey County on March 10, 1877.
He was married to Loreta Estes on March 13, 1898. She died on January 20, 1946.
To this union ten children were born, seven of whom survive.
The sons are Davie Lucas, Kings Mountain; Major Lucas, Mt. Salem; Ray Lucas, Junction City; Ralph Lucas, Mt. Salem; and Jessie Lucas, Highland.
The daughters are Mrs. Laura Phillippi, Junction City; and Mrs. Geneva Wood, Cincinnati.
There are eleven grandchildren.
Interment was at the Estes Cemetery.
Pallbearers were J.W. McKinney, Roscoe Gifford, Ervin Jeffries, Arnold Smith, Cleo Smith, and Caril Wilder.
