Dean E. Starry, of York, died May 29, 2011.

Born Monday, December 28, 1936 in York Springs, he was the son of the late Clair J. and Pearl A. (Slaybaugh) Starry.

Dean graduated from Biglerville High School in 1954. He was employed by Kinard Trucking for 10 years. He also drove for McCrory Distribution and Anchor Motor Freight, which is where he began his driving career. He was secretary/treasurer and cook for Camp Ono in Tioga County.

He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for three years.

Mr. Starry is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Martin) Starry, to whom he was married for 24 years; three daughters: Karen L. Starry, of York, Kathleen S. Lloyd, of Dover, Kimberly L. Starry, of Indialantic, FL; one son, Steven J. Starry, pf Orlando, FL; one stepson, Chad Bender of Springfield, VA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Starry of New Oxford; and two sisters, Joyce Snyder of New Oxford, Carolyn Starry of New York City, NY.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Slaybaugh; one sister, Marian Fetrow; and one grandson, Shawn M. Hamme.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. June 2, 2011 at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., Bendersville, with Pastor Patrick Rooney officiating. Interment in Biglerville Cemetery.
