Eleanor Lola, the daughter of Charley and Ada (Van Horn) Reeder, was born January 21, 1921 at Jefferson, Iowa and passed from this life January 16, 2011 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived her life to age of 89 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Eleanor Reeder attended and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1938.

On April 24, 1946, Eleanor Reeder was united in marriage to Paul Anholt at the Central Christian Church parsonage in Jefferson, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union; Linda Elaine and Marice Jane. The couple lived on a farm in rural Paton where Paul worked with his brother, Joe. Following the birth of their second child, they moved to a farm east of Lanyon. Eleanor cared for her daughters, cleaned chickens and separated milk; doing the usual duties of a farm wife of the early 1950s.

In 1958, they moved west of Paton while Paul worked for the local cream and egg company. The family moved into town where Paul worked as custodian of the school until his retirement. During this time, Eleanor worked in the local café and telephone office, at the Boxholm Café and managed the Country Store convenience shop in Paton.

Paul passed away in 1988, and Eleanor moved to Churdan in 1996.

Eleanor was an accomplished seamstress, made most of the girl's clothing throughout the years, including their prom and wedding attendant's gowns. She taught Sunday School at the First Covenant Church in Lanyon and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Churdan.

Eleanor suffered a heart attack in 2006 and battled the after-effects until her death.

Treasuring her memory are her daughters: Linda and her husband, David Blair and Marice and her husband, Patrick Geisler, all of Churdan; grandchildren: Kelly and her husband, Brian Bird of Granger, Tom Blair and his wife, Nicole of Ankeny, Matt Blair and his wife, Lisa of Scranton, Patrice and her husband, Scott Klingson of Gowrie, Greg Geisler and his wife, Heidi, Eric Geisler and Alex Geisler, all of Churdan; 12 great-grandchildren: Brendan and Dylan Bird; Colton, Connor and Caitlyn Klingson; Grace and Jacob Geisler; Serenity, McKade and Gavin Blair; Madison and Noah McNamee; a sister, Evelyn and her husband, Joe Anholt of Cedar Rapids and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Paul of 42 years, a brother Maurice who was killed in WWII and a sister, Marie Legore.

A celebration of Eleanor's life was held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 20, 2011 from the First Baptist Church in Churdan, Iowa with Rev David Smiley officiating. Soloist, Doyle Carlson sang "How Great Thou Art" and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace", Accompanist was organist, Rochelle Guess.

Casket bearers were Greg Geisler, Eric Geisler, Alex Geisler, Tom Blair, Matthew Blair, Brian Bird, Scott Klingson and Charles Anholt.
