Long Time Fort Benton Resident Died in Falls
Mrs. Olive Jennie Deck, a resident of Fort Benton and vicinity for the past nearly 40 years, passed away in a hospital in Great Falls last Wednesday following an extended illness. She had lived in Great Falls since last October with her daughter, Mrs. Ray Jackson.
Mrs. Deck was born Nov. 15, 1867, at Legioneer, Indiana, where she had resided until coming to Montana with her family in 1910, homesteading in the Kershaw section, where they resided until moving to Fort Benton a few years ago. Her husband, C. R. Deck passed away about four years ago.
Mrs. Deck was loved and respected by all who knew her and her passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends.
She is survived by four sons, Harry of Bellingham, Wash.; Charles of Fort Benton; Claude of Portland; and Earl of Great Falls; four daughters, Mrs. Frances Lane, Fort Benton; Mrs. Roscoe Longnecker, Popular, Wis.; Mrs. Arthur Linville, Columbia City, Indiana; and Mrs. Jackson of Great Falls; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The remains were brought to Fort Benton and funeral services were held from the First Methodist church on Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the family plot in Riverside cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
