FREITAG, Mary Christine (Birge) - Left us and went to our Lord on July 7th, 2005. She was the second daughter of Gene and Beckie Birge. Mary was born April 12, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. The family moved to Florida, then to Spokane, Wa. in 1962. Mary attended St. Francis Xavier Elementery school, Longfellow, Gary Jr. High, Holy Names, and Rogers High School. She graduated in 1975. She went on to SCC and graduated with an AA in Medical Transcription. Mary worked at St. Luke's Hospital and then moved to Everett, Wa. She returned to Spokane in 1981 to help her dad run his business. Mary was married in 1985 and had a son, Bradley. She worked at Adept Escrow for 20 years. Her skill as a secretary and manager were unmatched. She was a perfectionist that cannot be duplicated. Mary always tried to help people less fortunate than herself. At work and at home Mary was there for others. She loved gardening, sewing and watching her son grow. Mary is survived by her son, Bradley; parents, Gene and Beckie Birge (Okeechobee, Fl); sisters and brothers: Ann and Dave Rickey (Henderson, Nv), Mike and Deanne Birge (Phoenix, Az), Don and Becky Pope (Spokane), Chris and Rita Birge (Lacy, Wa), and David and Shelly Birge (Spokane); 13 nieces and nephews, and four great - nieces and nephews. The family wants to especially thank Donna Reid and Gaye Hill for their excellent care of Mary. Their compassion and love for her did not go unnoticed. They are the very best. There will be a Rosary Friday, July 15 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Requiem Mass will be Saturday, July 16 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3914 N. Lidgerwood, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable contribution to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hennessey/Smith Funeral Home & Crematory, 2203 N. Division, Spokane, Wa. 99207
