Former Washington County Woman Passes
Christiana Petersen, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hemming Petersen was born in Sonderby, Denmark, Feb. 24, 1875 and died at the Swedish Mission hospital in Omaha, Nebr., following an operation for hernia, Oct. 27, 1922, aged 47 years 8 months and 8 days.
She came to America with her parents forty-seven years ago and grew to womanhood in the Rose Hill neighborhood and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.
She was married to Rasmus Christiansen Feb. 24, 1899 and to this union six children were born. In 1900 they moved to Greely county, Nebr., where they lived on a farm two years. While living there the oldest daughter, Carrie, died when eighteen months old. They later returned to Washington county where they lived near Orum and Rose Hill until seven years ago when they moved to Omaha where they have since made their home.
On June 6, 1920, the second daughter, Mrs. Clara Crumb, died leaving a little daughter nine days old which she has tenderly cared for until the time of her sickness and death.
She leaves to mourn her death her grief stricken husband, one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Crumb, a pair of twin boys, Nels and Clarence and Leslie, nine years old and the sweet little granddaughter, Arlene. Also the aged parents Mr. and Mrs. Hemming Petersen, three brothers, Peter X. Petersen of Lyons, Neb., J. L. and L. P. Petersen, of Blair, four sisters, Mrs. Fred Anderson of Herman, Nebr., Mrs. George Broderson of Fort Morgan, Colo., Mr. Albert Petersen, and Mrs. Shirley Petersen of Blair, Nebr., also a large circle of relatives, neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Rose Hill church, Monday afternoon, Oct. 30, at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Staby, pastor of the Danish Lutheran church of Omaha and burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
