Rick Creek Killed As Car Skids
Rick Creek, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Creek, Libertyville, and a 1964 graduate of the Fairfield Community High School, was instantly killed about 11:40 a.m. today when the car he was driving apparently went out of control on a rain soaked blacktop road, skidded into the grader ditch and wrapped around a large tree. The accident took place on highway 303 about one mile south of the junction with highway 34. Officers who investigated the crash said it appeared as if the car went out of control on the wet pavement. Officers and members of the ambulance crew had to pry the door from the battered car to remove the body. They said it was apparent he was killed instantly. Ricky Creek, 19, was born June 14, 1946, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Creek, Libertyville. He attended school at Libertyville and graduated from the Fairfield Community high school with the class of 1964. While a student at the Fairfield school he was a star athlete in both basketball and football. He also played basketball at the Keokuk Junior college where he was enrolled last year. He was planning to return to his classes at Keokuk this afternoon. The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home where last rites are pending.
