Sunset - Esther Malinda Aiken Pace, 97, formerly of 320 Rocky Bottom Road, died May 28, 2011 at The Oaks Retirement Center in Brevard, NC. Mrs. Pace was born April 20, 1914 in Rocky Bottom, SC to the late Waymon and Elizabeth Chapman Aiken. She was a charter member of Rocky Bottom Baptist Church. Mrs. Pace was preceded in death by her husband Milton C. Pace, five sisters; Margie, Cara, Myra, Lou Ann, and Essie; brother Pinckney; granddaughter Lisa B. Coker and infant great grandson Chris Grinstead. Surviving are two sons, Parker Pace (Ann), Bill Pace (Judy), all of Brevard; daughter Linda P. Reeves of North Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren; Rick Brezeale of Sunset, SC, Christi Hinkle (Steve) of Durham, NC, Cindy Owen (Randy) of Brevard, and Donna Hollifield (Kevin) of Spruce Pine, NC. Surviving also are ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home, Pickens, SC, on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 6:30 - 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday May 31, 2011, at Rocky Bottom Baptist Church by Reverend Bill Bruner, Reverend Justin Anderson and Mr. Gary Anderson. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocky Bottom Baptist Church, 207 Taylor Way, Sunset, SC 29685 or Four-Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
