INDIANAPOLIS STAR-DECEBER 28, 2003

Winfred Alton Abbott, 90, Indianapolis passed away December 26, 2003. He was a postal mail handler for 23 years retiring in January 1981. He owned & operated the Mayflower Café on Washington Street and also worked at the Quality Hardware on Michigan.

He was a member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge # 720 and a 55 year member of the Scottish Rite. He was past president of the Shrine Camera Club, member of the National Organization of Retired Federal Postal Workers and National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 151 Indianapolis and Centenary Christian Church.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 30 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation on Monday, December 29 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Drexel Chapel, 4565 E. 10th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary Christian Church.

Survivors include daughter; Patricia A. (Thomas J.) McClain, three grandchildren; Michael Raymond (Dana) McClain of Greenwood, IN, Mark Alton McClain of Milwaukee, WI, Michelle Suzanne (Ralph) Adrianson of DeLand, FL. Five great-grandchildren; Evan Thomas, Ethan Michael, Eli Carpenter McClain, Sabryna Danielle & Austyn Thomas Adrianson. He was preceded in death by wife Hilma Marguerite (Wittig) brother Gilbert Abbott & great-grandson Eric Raymond McClain.

He was an active bowler and belonged to the Hy Delman's Golden Agers League. He enjoyed attending the Indianapolis Indians Baseball games. His favorite interest was photography. He loved to find an unusual subject to photograph. He attended several seminars at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park in Dawson Springs, KY. The family wishes to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers and express sincere appreciation to all of the Doctors and nurses involved in his care at Todd-Aikens Health Center in Franklin, Indiana.
