Mary Anne Barlar Ayers was the oldest child of William Henry Barlar and Susan Frances Phillips. On 12 Oct. 1876 she married William Allen Ayers in Giles County, Tennessee. By 1900 the family had relocated to Travis County, Texas. They raised a very large family together, 13 children, including 3 sets of twins: Robert Napoleon (1877-1958); Susan Inez (1879-1897); John Harvey (1880-1950); William Ransom (1882-1934); Addie Jane (1883-1968); Thomas Richard (1886-1930); Rosa May (1886-1923); Milton Brown (1888-1970); Dena (1890-1972); Irene Bell "Rena" (1890-1963); Clarence Cleveland (1892-1961); Wallace Clifton (1895-1948); and Walter Hays (1895-1947).

Please note: The date of birth is taken from the 1900 census; the date of death is taken from Mary's Texas Death Certificate (Apr 13, 1914); this conflicts with the headstone date of 1913.
