Hal Akins said his father told an untruth about his birth year so that he could join the Army. Harold told the Army he was born in 1921 because he wanted to join and was not old enough yet. Harold was born in 1922, but he Army records have his birth year as 1921, therefore the year they have in their records as his birth year.
