Betty Jo Hutson Jacobus, 89, died May 29, 2011, in Overland Park, Kansas, following surgery to replace a broken hip. Born January 9, 1922, in Pana, Illinois, to George and Pauline Merriman Hutson, Betty Jo married her sweetheart, Kenneth R Jacobus, on December 6, 1941.

Over the years, Ken's job with Illinois Bell required them to move to different towns in Illinois, finally settling in Overland Park following Ken's retirement. Each time Betty Jo created a new home filled with grace and beauty. Her love of beautiful things was a life-long passion, and her homes reflected her impeccable taste. She was a loving wife and mother, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by Ken and four children; Paula Leighton of Leawood, KS; Stephen Jacobus of Decatur, IL; Diane Newberry of South Boston, VA; and David Jacobus of Decatur, IL.; as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren

A memorial service will be held at a future date in Pana.
