CALHOUN TIMES, Nov 15, 1945
J. M. Davis, 73, passed away at his home near Calhoun early Wednesday morning, November 14. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife and the following children: Clem, Bunyan D., Rev. Roscoe, Bill, Rev. Homer and George; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Mae (Reuben) Poarch and Mrs. Edna Lucille (Floyd J.) Barton, all of Gordon County; thirty-three grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Odum Davis, of Dalton, and John Lisha Davis, of Gordon County; one sister, Mrs. Ellen (Jim) Glass, of Gainesville. Funeral services will be held from Bethesda Baptist Church, near Red Bud, Friday morning at 11 o'clock....Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery. Kenemer & Combs...funeral arrangements.
