The "Census or Enumeration of Confederate Soldiers Residing In Alabama in 1907" shows his Post Office to be Brundidge Alabama. It also shows he entered the Civil War as a Private in Arkadelphia, Arkansas June 26, 1861 in the 2nd Ark. Battery, Roberts Battery until June 1865 when he was Captured at Shelbyville Tennessee and paroled June 26, 1865.

The 1910 Census shows him to be living in Grimes along with his wife Rebecca Orpah Flowers. The Census shows they had been married 16 years and had no children.
