From the NYS Adj.-Gen.'s report on the 6th NY HA: "CAMPBELL, WILLIAM — Age, 38 years. Enlisted, August 21, 1862, at Charlestown; mustered in as private, Co. K, Sixth Artillery (originally One Hundred and Thirty-fifth [NY] Infantry), September 2, 1862, to serve three years; wounded, May 19, 1864, at [no place cited], wounded, October 19, 1864, at Cedar Creek, Va.; promoted sergeant, April 23,1865; mustered out with company, June 28,
1865, at Petersburg, Va., as Campbell [sic]."
