Helen Zbinden Buck, 100 years old, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to countless others, quietly returned to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the home of her daughter.

She was born February 1, 1911, in Logan, Utah, the youngest of 12 children born to Ulrich and Elise Favre Zbinden. Her parents immigrated to Logan, Utah, in 1908, having converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guggisberg, Bern, Switzerland. Helen had a wonderful testimony and learned to love the gospel from her parents at a young age. She remained true and faithful all of her days. She was a wonderful teacher and she loved to teach those things that are of great worth. Beginning at the age of 14, she taught primary and her influence for good was felt in her various callings in each of the organizations for the church for nearly a century.

She married J. Harold Buck of Taylor, Utah, on November 4, 1936 in the Logan Temple. They operated a family dairy farm in Taylor until Harold's passing on August 17, 1991. Their love for each other was evidenced in everything they did together from riding the tractor to family singing around her cherished piano. They both served LDS Missions in their young years, and then mom supervised the farm and family while Harold served a mission from 1952-1954 and later they served as companions on three missions in Arizona and New Mexico.

Helen loved gardening and especially growing beautiful flowers. She raised fruits and vegetables in her own prolific garden of Eden. Of the many things she loved in life, dancing, music, beautiful flowers and her testimony remained high on her priority list.

She and her beloved Harold raised eight children. She is survived by Romney (Kathleen) Buck; Diane Rowe; Vellis (Dwight) Pincock; Thayne (Marilyn) Buck; Joyce Buck; Lana (David) Mills; Jan (Kevin) Roberts; Shelly (Jeff) Barrett; 41 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband and a son Stan, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Ogden Utah West Stake Center, 2200 South 4300 West in Taylor, Utah.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.

We express love and gratitude to friends and family for years of loving care. Also a special thank you to Applegate Home Care and Hospice for their tender care.
