Ora C. Cade, 84, lifetime Taylor County resident, died at the Gillespie Nursing Home at 7:30 am Friday after a lingering illness.

He was the son of the late Elihue and Josephine Hutson Cade, and was born on a farm near New Market. New Market area was his home his entire lifetime and he was very active in community affairs, interested especially in farming and the dairy industry. He delivered milk in New Market from his own dairy until 1940. He served on the first program of the AAA when it was started in 1932, was shipping manager for the Farmers Union Shipping Association at New Market. He served on the New Market school board, and on the Taylor County board of supervisors from Jan 1940 until Jan 1958.

He was a member of the Woodman Lodge, the New Market Church of Christ. The New Market Masonic Lodge recently conferred his 50 year membership pin. He associated with the New Market Eastern Star chapter, and the New Market IOOF and Rebekah Lodges.

He was married to Aletha Jane Pratt on Feb 16, 1905, and to this union four children were born. His wife preceded him in death on May 19, 1952. On Nov 3, 1953 he was married to Faye Vosburg, who survives him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Verlin Cade, New Market, Mrs Russell (Thelma) Slack, Villisca, Mrs Estle (Theda) Glassgow, Clarinda; one brother is Raymond Cade, Des Moines, four sisters, Mrs Harry Harland, New Market; Mrs Mae Roush, Gravity; Mrs Ward McCreary, Des Moines; Mrs Vesta Jones, Midwest City, Okla. He has six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a year old son, Merrill, who died in 1913.

Funeral services will be from the Walker Funeral Home at 2 pm Tuesday with Preacher Glen Mitchell in charge. Soloist will be Mrs Verlin Larson, and organist, Mrs Darrell Damewood. Casket bearers will be Darrell Damewood, Leslie Roush, Roger Glassgow, Merle Harland, Gary Bix, and Darrell Dean Roush.
