"Gibbs-Samuel C. Gibbs died Aug. 6th, 1880 at his residence on the farm of his son, Robert C. Gibbs. He was born Feb. 1st(sb 11th) 1800 near Georgetown, Scott Co, Ky. He was married 1898 (sb 1822) to Miss Charlotte Kenney, daughter of Edward Kenney and sister of Rev. B. F. Kenney, a well known Baptist minister in North Missouri. He emigrated to Missouri in 1849 (sb 1829) and settled near Fulton, Callaway County, and since that time he lived in portions of Callaway, Boone and Audrain Counties. He is survived by many years the wife of his youth and in 1850 he was married to Miss Mary J. Davis, who still survives, of the number of children born to him by his first wife but five remain. The latter part of his life was spent in Audrain County and in Callaway, Boone and Monroe Counties especially. He leaves many kindred and friends who will long cherish his memory."
