God called Joyce M. Yeakle home after 4 years of his healing, she was 74. She died at home surrounded by her loving family and friends with her husband Richard by her side.
Joyce was born in Midland on Aug. 29, 1935 to the late Mary (Wright) and Robert C. Drake. She later married her sweetheart Richard at the Community Church of the Nazarene on Dec. 3, 1954.
Joyce opened the Lil Pear Tree of Midland in Oct. 1973. She was the President of the Missionary Society and she was very active in the Church.
Joyce is survived by her husband Richard; daughters, Gail (Terry) Miner of Midland, Lisa (Russ) Smith of Victoria, BC, Bekki (Ben) Hitchel of Cromwell, KY, Gwen (Rex) Malone of Midland; grandchildren, Kellee Syneseal, Jacquee Heer, Ashley Mapes, Kevin Hitchel, Kara Herko, Jodi Hitchel, Brennen Smith, Julia Miner, Sydney Hitchel, Dakota Malone, Skyler Malone; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Frances (Carl) Koerner of Bourbonnias, IL, Grace (John) Arnold of Duluth, GA and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Janet Smith and Justin Herko; and brother Leslie Drake.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Community Church of the Nazarene, on Monday, March 8 at 11:00 am, with Reverend James Adams officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Sunday March 7 from 4 til 7 and at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service. Joyce will be entombed at Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Online Memorials are available at www.smithminer.com.
