DENISON – Lenora Edna Bunch died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Homestead of Denison. She had been a resident of the Homestead for the past four years.

Family visitation will be at Bratcher Funeral Home from 6:30 -7:30 P.M., Friday, May 27, 2011.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, TX 75090. Pallbearers for Lenora will be her grandsons: Ernie Bunch, Ed Bunch, Mark Riddle, Alan Riddle and great-grandsons: Ben Riddle and Brad Bolinger.

Lenora was born in Greenville, TX on January 19, 1918 to Luther and Helen Duck. Upon graduating from Greenville High School, where she had been a member of the first and original girls high kick drill team-the Flaming Flashes under the direction of Gusie Nell Davis, she attended East Texas State College at Commerce, Texas. She married Ernest Benjamin Bunch on January 3, 1936. After forty-five years of marriage, E. B., as his family and friends called him, died on April 4, 1981. Also preceding Lenora in death were her brothers, G. W. Webb and Howard Duck and her sister Gentz Reynolds.

Lenora and E. B. moved to Denison in 1942. They have a son Ben and a daughter Leah that were born in Greenville, TX but were reared in Denison. She was a floor supervisor for Levi Strauss for ten years before going to work for the Alsonet Hotels. She began as a clerk, became the bookkeeper and then manager of the Denison Hotel. Her last position with the Alsonet Hotels, before retiring in 1983, after twenty-five years, was as a traveling auditor.

After retiring, and with most of her family living in Arizona, travel took a large part of her time. She visited many countries in Europe and Asia and just about the entire United States. Being an avid golfer, she played from Denison to Pebble Beach.
Lenora was an active supporter of the City of Denison and the "Katy" railroad and belonged to many civic and church groups. One of her best memories was being manager of the Denison Hotel and being host and serving lunch to the Denison Lions Club. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Denison for almost as long as she lived in Denison.

Lenora is survived by her sister Helen Coffey of Mexico City, Mexico, her son Ben Bunch and wife Sue of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Leah Riddle and husband Jesse of Green Oaks, OK and eight grandchildren. The grandchildren are: Ernie Bunch and wife Gail of Phoenix, AZ, Ed Bunch and wife Phyllis of Phoenix, AZ, Helen Allen Riddle and husband Mark of Mesa, AZ, Teresa Allen Bolinger of Peoria, AZ, Tosha Taves and husband Steve of Phoenix, AZ, Alan Riddle and wife Kim of Moore, OK, David Riddle and wife Rebecca of Frankfort, KY and there are fifteen great-grandchildren.

A very special thanks to the staff and residents of the Homestead of Denison-folks that really care, to Lupe Morales, a neighbor and friend that was always there for Lenora, to Dru DeArmond, a traveling companion, friend and friend of the family for countless years and Heart to Heart Hospice.

Memorials should be made to your favorite charity, your church or to the tornado victims.

Arrangements are entrusted to Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard Street, Denison, TX 75020, (903) 465-2323. Further information is on our website at www.bratcherfuneralhome.com
