Richard A. (Dick) Baker, age 64 of Joplin, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born September 5, 1947 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Clarence Junior Baker and Dorothy Louise Young Baker, and lived in Joplin most of his lifetime. A machinist by trade, he owned and operated Research Tooling in Joplin for over ten years. He then worked as a supervisor for Superior Wheels in Pittsburg for 15 years. Currently, he was owner and operator of Baker Machine in rural Joplin.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Baker of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Darren Baker and wife Jill of Carl Junction; one daughter, Kristi Baker of Carl Junction; nine grandchildren, Drew Baker and Brielle Baker, both of Fort Lauderdale, Robert, Billy, Kennan, and Kayln Baker, Taylor Momchilovich, Brittany and Ashton Baker, all of Carl Junction; a brother, Micky Baker and wife Beverly of Joplin; a sister, Linda Tyree and husband Wes of Kansas City; many nieces and nephews.

A grandson, Nicholas Richard Baker of Carl Junction, preceded him in death.

Dick was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Family expresses special thanks to Jan Grant and the entire staff at Webb City Rehabilitation Center.
