Richard Charles Pearson was a passionate, witty, charming and caring individual who will never be forgotten. Affectionately described as larger than life by all who knew him. Born to Swedish immigrants in Chicago in 1922, he remained very proud and connected to his Swedish heritage. After living years in a boys home during the Depression, as a teen he was reunited with his mother when they moved to San Francisco. Upon graduation, he joined the Army and was decorated with the Bronze Star for his service in World War II and Korean War. He returned to a long career with Pacific Bell ascending to an executive presented with a rich variety of challenges he met optimistically with innovative and exemplary leadership. He retired after 40 years to spend the next 30 years with even more time with his family and traveling the world with his beloved wife and devoted partner. He lived 88 years to the fullest. Richard was a family man first sharing his life with his "Bride" Joyce of 65 years, four children, nine grandchildren, a great-grandson, and many friends. He spent his life giving us "gifts' continually improving the quality of our lives and our feeling of self worth. He lives on within all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
