DONGOLA -- Betty (Morgan) Adams Barnett, 79, of Ullin, formerly of Dongola, Mounds and Olive Branch, passed away, at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Union County Hospital in Anna.
Betty was born May 1, 1932, at Dongola, the daughter of the late Benjamin Morgan and Clossie (Coffman) Morgan.
Betty and her first husband, Robert "Bob" Adams, owned and operated Betty and Bob's Restaurant in Dongola for several years. Betty later was a bookkeeper for Commonwealth Insurance Company in Cairo.
She was a former member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post 8891 of Mounds.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert "Bob" Adams and Joe Barnett; an infant sister, Wanda Merle Morgan; and a brother, Irving Morgan.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie (Caroll) McCommons of Dongola, Vicki and (Ricky) Toler of Barlow, Ky.; a son, Bennie (Kathy) Adams of Vienna; a sister, Alta Mae Hinkle of Paducah; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Betty will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, in Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Jerry Holman officiating. Inter-ment will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to American Lung Association of Illinois, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62711, in memory of Betty Barnett.
