Virginia Laughlin, 91, a long-time Tulsa resident passed from this life and into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Tulsa. She was born on February 5, 1920, one of five children born to Roy Nathaniel Hensley and Mabel (Chapman) Hensley. Virginia married Alva "Alvie" Laughlin in Tulsa on May 26, 1936, and they had enjoyed thirty-nine years of marriage prior to his death in 1975. She was an active member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Tulsa, where her membership goes back to 1948 at which time the church was located just behind Mark Twain Elementary School on the Sand Springs Line, and was named Home Gardens Assembly of God, to signify it's location near the Home Gardens streetcar stop. In recent years, Virginia had worked in sales for Independent Life Insurance and Stanley Home Products and had also worked as a nanny.

She was active in the Boy Scouts and Brownies when her children were younger, but was quick to say that she liked working with boys more than with girls. She enjoyed keeping her yard and flower gardens in tip-top shape, and liked to watch the birds that frequented her yard. Family activities of all kinds were very important to her. Virginia was also a very giving person and was quick to respond on an anonymous basis to families in need.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Rita Yaunt and husband Stephen of Tulsa, her son David Laughlin and wife Karen of Tulsa, grandchildren Bobby Laughlin and wife Donna, Sharla Buthod and husband Jeff, Sonya McDaniel and husband Justin, Melissa Killione and husband Bryan, Sarah Hocutt , David Yaunt, Robin and Raymond Talon, Kyle Laughlin, Nicole Cooper, Alex Washington, and David Laughlin. Survivors also include great-grandchildren, Blake and Tara Buthod, Josie, Lucas and Joshua Killione, and Rachel and Seth Talon. One of her siblings, Mary Langeven of Long Beach, CA also survives her. In addition, she is survived by many other family members and a host of friends that she knew through the years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Alvie, a son, Kenneth Wayne Laughlin, two sisters, Lucretia Bruffy, and Ada Hobson, and her one brother, Harold Hensley.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you consider a contribution to the John 3:16 Mission, or to the Salvation Army. These were two organizations which Virginia liked to support because of their beneficial ministry to homeless and needy people.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 4701 W Edison, Tulsa, OK 74127, with Rev. Tim Watkins officiating. Private interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Admiral & Yale in Tulsa on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs. Condolences and messages to the family may be left at the funeral home website, www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com
