Jimmie was born August 29, 1947 in Joplin, MO to Herman and Vesta (Bolin) Allen. He graduated from Baxter Springs High School with the class of "65". He married Glenda Moore on May 8, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she survives of the home. Jimmie served in the United States Air Force, fighting in Vietnam.
Jimmie was a member of the Elks Club, D.A.V. of Wichita, American Legion of Columbus, and the V.F.W. of Columbus. He loved the outdoors, KU Athletics, and playing golf. The family wanted to give special thanks to Karen Fleck and employees of Southern Care Hospice, for the love and care they gave to Jimmie.
Jimmie is survived by his wife; one daughter, Jodi Allen Schmidt of Overland Park, KS; one son, Jeremy Allen of Arma, KS; four brothers, Jerry Allen and wife Rose, Randy Allen and wife Karen, Larry Allen and wife Zelma, and Gary Allen and wife Lisa; one aunt, Elsie Peace of Lowell, KS; five grandchildren, Blake, Brendan, Claire, Hayden, and Peyton; many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. Preceded in death were his parents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday May 28, 2011 at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, KS. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 27. at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
