Dale W. Chatfield, 58, of 2345 Roosevelt Rd., died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at home, of natural causes.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake serviced at 5 p.m.

Mr. Chatfield was employed as a trucker at John Deere Dubuque Works for 29 years.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1943, in Dubuque, son of Harold and Mildred (Elliott) Chatfield. He married May 2, 1970, in Dubuque.

Dale was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. He was a member of the UAW Local 94 and was a union steward and on the executive board. He was also active in the Democratic Party.

Dale was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. He was an avid pool shooter and enjoyed going to the dog track. His favorite times were those spent with his grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, a son, four grandchildren, his mother, Mildred Buttikofer, of Dubuque, four sisters; four brothers.

He was preceded in death by a brother Daniel Chatfield, his stepfather, Herman Buttikofer, and by special aunt and uncle who raised Dale, Earl and Helen Everett.

A Dale W. Chatfield Memorial Fund has been established.
