WINGER, JACK CLIFFORD Jack C. Winger passed away peacefully at his home after a two-month battle with lung cancer at the age of 88 on May 18, 2011. Jack was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on February 21, 1923, leaving home to join the Navy to fight in World War 2. It was the Navy that brought Jack to San Diego, where he met Sarah (Sally) Martinez, his wife of 66 years. He retired from the Post Office after 30 years of service and enjoyed retired life for 33 years. Jack is survived by his wife Sally, his children, Clifford, Winger, Janet Baldi, Kenneth Winger, and Martin Winger and 13 grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his children Barbara Griffin and Jacqueline Usler. A funeral Mass will be held for Jack at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Chapel on Friday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care.
