ATENAIDE, ANTHONY September 9, 1947 to May 17, 2011 Tony Atenaide, 63, died after being recently diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Tony served as an officer in the U. S. Army and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. He practiced law in San Diego for many years before being appointed as a judge in the San Diego Immigration Court where he served for nearly 16 years. Judge Atenaide was a truly honorable and gifted judge, who was loved and held in the highest esteem by his colleagues and by all who had the opportunity to work with him and be in his presence. One of his proud achievements was being a member of the San Diego County Sheriff's Reserve Search and Rescue Detail for 10 years. Many of Tony's favorite times were spent biking, traveling, painting, dancing, and walking his dog, Molly. Tony will be remembered for his compassion, sense of humor, intellect, service, and as a faithful and loving husband for 39 years to his dear wife Carol. Private interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
