Rebecca was born September 11, 1850 to Martha Dickson and Robert Dudley Rutherford from Mississippi. Rebecca married Pierre Francois Girard Jr on February 11, 1867 in Harris County, Texas. Rebecca and Pierre Jr had four known children, Charles, Eugene, Annetta and Cora. Shortly after the birth of Cora, Pierre died and Rebecca was left to raise their four children alone. On July 17, 1884, Rebecca married David A. Lacey in Dallas County Texas. The result of their union produced four children, Daisy, who died in 1889 at age four, Lillian, Hettie Florence and Thomas Jefferson Lacey.
Rebecca was a founding member of the First Christian Church of Grand Prairie, Texas, established in 1903, along with her daughter Annetta, son-in-law Albert, daughter Lillian and son-in-law Charles Hall. After the death of her second husband David in 1906, Rebecca moved from the Lacey farm in Eagle Ford (west Dallas) after the family sold the farm land to Southwestern State Portland Cement Company in 1909. Rebecca moved to the home of her daughter Lillian Hall in Grand Prairie where she died on January 25, 1926.
