Aledo, Ill. - Eileen M. Derr Vance, 94, of Aledo, died March 21, 2011 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Eileen M. Derr Vance memorial fund.
Eileen was born Nov. 5, 1916 in Brookfield, Mo., the daughter of John Leroy and Nellie M. Horton Hemphill. She married John H. Derr on March 12, 1948 in Joy. He died May 5, 1964. She married John Robert Vance, Sr. on Nov. 6, 1982 in Aledo.
Eileen was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo, where she served in various ladies and other church related organizations; Mercer County Farm Bureau and A.A.R.P. She was named Aledo Jaycees of the Year in 1975. Eileen was employed by Moss Department and Variety Store in Aledo 1942 - 1948. She baked rolls and bread for the townspeople and businesses.
Eileen enjoyed her children, babysitting and flowers.
Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Bob; son, David L. (Cheryl) Derr, Milan; step-son, Joe Vance, Aledo; brother, Raymond Hemphill, Aledo; grandchildren, Terry (Amanda) Farran, Cheryl Davis, Chad and Nick Wilson; step-grandchildren, Sheri (Butch) Pikuza, Terry (Angie), Corey, Jaime and Todd Vance; two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
