He and Cora and Lloyd ultimately ended up moving to Alberta, Canada for the sake of Cora's health. Lloyd remained in Canada and lived and is buried in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
Martin and Cora were returned home to Carroll County, Illinois for burial with their young children James, Fern, and Wade.

"Relative Passes Away in Canada-
Mrs. Grace Moyer and daughter Lou of Argo have received word of the death of their brother-in-law and uncle, Martin Beattie of Canada. Mr. Beattie passed away at his home Sunday. (12 Nov 1939)
The body will arrive here the last of the week and burial will take place at the Oakville cemetery south of Mt. Carroll.
Mr. Beattie is also survived by a son, William, of Lanark."
