DOLLIE PHIPPARD HAD TWO CHILDREN BY HER FIRST HUSBAND, BILLY AUBREY SIMS; GARY ALLEN SIMS AND SHARON SIMS REX.
Stella Marie "Dollie" Phippard of Kootenai, Idaho passed away, Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the home of her dear caregiver, Debbie Cosgrove. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 8,2006 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with Charley Packard officiating. Inurnment will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery next to her late husband, Stan.
Dollie was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on June 28, 1918 to Timothy and Minnie Barrett. She grew up and attended schools there and later in California. In 1937 she married Bill A. Sims in Garden Grove, Ca. and they later divorced in 1951
She then moved to Granite, Idaho where she married Stanley C Phippard. Together they ran "Stan's Place", the little tavern on highway 95. Stan passed away in 1958 and she continued to run the tavern and later changed the name to "Dollies." She had many friends that helped her through the years after Stan's death. In 1994 she sold the tavern and moved to Kootenai to be closer to her daughter and family.
Dollie truly enjoyed people and was always there to help anyone who needed it. She will be missed deeply by all her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading and flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharron("Sherry"(Oscar) Rex of Kootenai, Id; six grandchildren, Grant Rex of McKenna, Wa., Mark(Margaret) Rex of Union Town, Wa., Cindy(Alan)Smith of Spirit Lake, Id., Debbie Ozbun of Elmira,Id., Kip(Jennifer) Rex of Athol, Id. and carrie(Douglass)Childers of California. Nine great grandchildren; nieces, Janice Sims of Texas and Joyce Lawson of Oregon and nephew, Larry Sims of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stan, son Gary Sims in 2002, great grandson L.J. in 2005 and her sister, Dorothy Nielsen in 1995.
Lakeview Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
