Son of James J and Deborah C (Pine) Jenkins
Here is a beautiful obit from the 4-26-1867 New Paltz Times that you can copy and paste into his bio.

In Gardiner, Ulster county, April 17th, after three days illness, ELI, only son of James I. and Deborah C. Jenkins, aged eight years, eight months, and ten days.
TO COUSIN'S JAMES & DEBORAH.
BY LIZZIE.
But few short hours have winged their flight,
Since last we heard his voice in mirth,
And gazed upon those eyes of light
Now clouded in eternal night,
And lost to us on earth.
We little thought that death drew near
With rapid pace, but silent tread
To launch his venom pointed spear,
And bear him from the loved ones here
To place him with the dead.
Locked in the chambers of our hearts
His memory will forever dwell,
And as the tear of anguish starts,
We'll breathe the comfort Christ imparts
He doeth all things well.
And time with friendly hand will bring
Us home to join our cherished one,
Where soul to soul in love will cling,
And hymns of praise forever ring,
To God's redeeming Son.
