Vincent worked from 1927-1939 at Ames Hardware in sales, then from 1946-1964 he owned and operated Balas Hardware and from 1964-1980 he was a salesman in the hardware department for Sears.
He was a veteran of WWII having proudly served in the US Army and was a member of the Harrison Twp. Senior Center for over four years.
Vincent was a very giving and helpful person.
He is survived by his son Vincent J. Balas Jr. of West Carrollton; daughters and sons-in-law Bertha Ann & Grant Vest of FL; Deborah Kay & Roger Brown of Kettering; Diana Lynn Balas of Dayton; sister: Mary Jane Dillon of Dayton; grandchildren: Joe, Mary Kay, Nick, Shauna, Jessica, Brynn; one great-grandson Clinton & many other relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ida (Quast) Balas; parents Joseph & Anna (Kiss) Balas; four brothers, one sister & special friend: Katherine Wollenhaupt.
Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday, September 12 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood).
Interment to follow the service at Willow View Cemetery in Dayton. Memorial contributions could be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Dayton Heart Assn. [Dayton Daily News (OH), Sept 10, 2001]
