Melba Evelyn Borup Pope
Melba Evelyn Borup Pope, 87, of Blackfoot died Sunday, March 12, 2000 from causes incident to her age. She was born July 25, 1912 in Manard, Camas Prairie, Idaho, the daughter of William T. Borup and Essie Idella Lee Borup.
At an early age, she moved with her family to Emmett, Idaho where she lived for nearly 70 years. In 1987 she moved to Blackfoot, Idaho.
She married Ersal Leland Pope in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1933. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, holding many callings as teacher and officer in church auxiliaries. In Emmett, she taught seminary for many years. She also worked in the genealogical program in both Emmett and Blackfoot recording names.
She loved camping, and being outdoors. She especially appreciated her trips through Yellowstone. At home, she was an avid reader and enjoyed games with her family.
Melba's husband died in 1969. She is survived by one daughter and five sons, Barbara (LaMar) Robertson of Blackfoot, Dal (Helen) Pope of Roseville, CA., Clayne (Carolyn) Pope of Provo, UT., Rulon (Sue) Pope of Orem, UT., Kenneth (Julie) Pope, of Loomis, CA., and Gordon (Carol) Pope of North Salt Lake, UT; 29 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Idella Larsen of Preston, ID; and five brothers, William M. Borup of Emmett, ID., LeeRoy Borup of Richland, WA., Byron Borup of Carmichael, CA., Keith Borup of Orem, UT., and Rex Borup of Boise, ID.
A viewing will be held 10 a.m., Saturday March 18, 2000 at the Emmett Ward LDS Chapel at 1001 E. Second St., Emmett, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Emmett, Idaho cemetery.
