Born January 7, 1956 in Evansville, Indiana, he moved to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida in November 1957 and finally landed in Laurel, MD in January 1960 with his family. He attended Margaret Edmonston and Oaklands Elementary schools, Eisenhower Junior High, and graduated from Laurel High School in 1974. Playing soccer for both his Jr and Sr high teams, becoming an outstanding defender and leader. He lived most of his life in Maryland where he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Joy Heier and welcomed his daughter. He worked for District Photo in Beltsville, Maryland. In recent years, he relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he was the Exchange Manager for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Governor's Office for Information Technology until his passing.

He is survived by Ex-wife, Carolyn J. Heier-Ethridge, daughter, Jennifer E. Ethridge-Bell, of Fairfax, Va.; Siblings: Diana Ethridge-Slatton of Camp Hill, Pa., Steven A. Ethridge of Bowie, Md., David W. Ethridge of Laurel, Md., and Belinda Ethridge-Encinias of Etters, Pa.; Nephews Andrew, Ryan, and Patrick Ethridge, Eric Encinias, and a niece, Erin Encinias. He was preceded in death by parents Thomas Sr., and Patricia Ethridge who are buried at Meadowridge Cemetery in Elkridge, MD.
