DAVENPORT -- Sharon Fowler, of Davenport, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge, Davenport. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, Davenport, or to your favorite charity. Sharon was born on October 20, 1923, to Mack and Hattie Fugua [sic Fuqua] near Hamilton, Texas. After high school, she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and later for Merrill Lynch in Hollywood, Calif., where she modeled for a studio. During the summer of 1947 she vacationed at Spirit Lake, Iowa, where in 1950 she married Gordon Fowler. In 1952, they moved to Davenport. She owned Sharon's Drapery, an interior decorating business, for 35 years. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to dance, travel, play bridge and golf and participate in community affairs. Survivors include her husband Gordon; a sister, Estelle, Dallas, Texas; son Keith, Dallas; daughters Paula Witt and husband Bradley, Davenport, and Linda Young, Cleveland, Ohio; along with four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
