Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Rejoice Lutheran Church, Clearwater for Perry A. Ahlstrand, age 69, of Clear Lake, who died Wednesday at his home after a five year battle with cancer. Rev. Scott Gjevre will officiate and burial will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Cemetery in rural Pequot Lakes. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church in Clearwater. Perry was born Feb. 14, 1939 in St. Cloud to late Elmer & Hazel (Satterstrom) Ahlstrand. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1957 and attended St. Cloud State University. Perry served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958-1959 and in the Army Reserves for six years. He married Carol Pohl on Nov. 30, 1996 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Perry lived in the St. Cloud area most of his life and spent the winters in Ruskin, FL since his retirement. He was General Manager for Purity Milk and later worked for the Tom Thumb Corporation and Prudential. He purchased Beaudreau's Bar in St. Cloud in 1992 and operated it until his retirement in 2004. Perry was a member of Rejoice Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Sertoma Club. He enjoyed golf, the lake, his lawn, and his favorite "job" for R.L. Larson Excavating. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Clear Lake; sons and daughters, Jeffrey of St. Cloud, Gaye (Tim) Dean of Maple Grove, Julie of Faribault, Steven (Monica Voth) of St. Cloud, and Kevin of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Austin & Parker Dean, Jenner &Noelle Ahlstrand; brothers, Bruce (Mary) of Conyers, GA and Jay (Jan) of Casa Grande, AZ; and great niece, Megan Belden.
