Funeral Services for Edith Brown, 95, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Garrett Brown officiating.

Ms. Brown passed away on June 15, 2022, in Athens.

Edith Bernice Brown was born April 7, 1927, in Ouachita, Arkansas the daughter of William J. Buck and Dona (Wiggins) Buck. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, taking care of her family and was known as a kind and generous woman. Edith was an avid gardener who raised the largest recorded tomato in Henderson County and made the best pickles around. Her great joy was celebrating Christmas and Easter at her home surrounded by her loving family every year which will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband W. A. Brown; two sons, Don Brown and Larry Brown; daughter, Judy Brown Voss; grandchildren, Stacy Brown and Tyson Curtis and her stepfather J. H. Ross.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Oberg of Tyler; sister Dorothy Everett of Camden, Arkansas; Richard Buck and wife Mary Nell of Redford, Virginia and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many other relatives.

A visitation will be held prior to the funeral on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 1-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
