Arthur Allison Cromer, 87, husband of Mrs. Floree R. Cromer, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Rolling Green Village.

Born in Newberry, S.C., on March 9, 1916, he was a son of the late Arthur B. and Myrtis Cave Cromer. He attended the first Baptist Church of Blackville, S.C., and was a graduate of Newberry High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the 38th Engineer Battalion during World War II, and retired from the Liberty Life Insurance Co., as Director of Claims Service, in 1981 after 42 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Ham of Timmonsville, S.C.; sister, Arlene Cromer Cooper and her husband "Foots" Cooper.

Surviving including his wife are his devoted daughter, Elizabeth Cromer Pressley and her husband Paul C.; granddaughter, Lea Pressley, and grandsons, Art and Al Pressley, all of Greenville; stepdaughter, Sally McNair Long and her husband, Douglas D., and their daughters, Sarah R. Long, of St. Charles, Ill., and Ashley and Jamie Benton of Dacula, Ga. Also surviving are his sisters, brothers, and their families, Dorcas Pratt of York, S.C., Jennie and Durward Cromer, Lois and Fickling Cromer, all of Blackville, S.C., and "Tootsie" and Bill Benner of Laurens, S.C.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at the Blackville Cemetery, Blackville, S.C., with Dr. Thomas Terry officiating.
