Marjorie Flo Van Hemert, 92, of Green Valley, Ariz., and formerly of Danville, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Life Sonoran Homes in Sahuarita, Ariz.

Mrs. Van Hemert was born March 23, 1919, in Marion County, and was an Iowa resident for 77 years. On Oct. 20, 1938, she married Purl Van Hemert in Otley. He died May 13, 1995. Mr. Van Hemert was general manager of Otley Farmers Co-op and later Des Moines County Farm Service of Danville.

Mrs. Van Hemert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Danville, a member of many organizations and did a lot of volunteer work, especially at the Burlington Medical Center.

Survivors include one brother, Chet Bricker of Green Valley; one sister, Norma Jean Frommack of Lenexa, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

No visitation is planned.

A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Van Hemert will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville, with the Pastor Jack Edmisson officiating.

A memorial has been established for the Danville Fire Department.
