After a brief illness Mrs. Helen Hamilton , of Highland township died last Friday afternoon.
About two weeks prior to her death she suffered a slight stroke of paralysis which although apparently light did its deadly work nevertheless, and another aged Mother has gone to tread the silent halls of death, away from the cares and anxieties of this turbulent sea of life. Her spirit has returned to its Creator and her inanimate body now sleeps in the grave there to remain until called forth at the sound of the resurrection trumpet. Mrs. Helen Hamilton was the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Christian Shroyer and was born in Salem township this county March 25, 1830. In the year 1847 she was married to James Hamilton with whom she lived until December 27, 1891, when death removed her companion
She was a woman of wide connection and her friends were many. She was the Mother of eight children three of whom have preceded her to the grave, Willie, Franklin and Peter. The deaths of these boys have been rather tragic and sorrowful in the extreme. Will Hamilton died of poison from eating wild parsnip, Franklin Hamilton died of brain fever and Peter Orvil Hamilton was killed while working with a threshing machine.
Mrs. Hamilton has always been a resident of this county and has never lived more than one-half mile from the place of her birth.
Funeral took place Sunday forenoon at the New Hope Lutheran church. Rev. Thomas Wood conducting the service.
