H. Ray Gordy, 94, of Monee, Ill. died Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Dyer, Ind.
Ray Gordy was born on Aug. 14, 1916 to Roy and Ethel (nee Herford) Gordy.
Ray was married to Patricia Gordy and was a lifelong farmer in the Monee area.
He worked for Commonwealth Edison for 45 yrs and was a founding member of the Crete Township Fire Dept. Surviving are his wife Pat; one son Delmar Gordy of Portland, Oregon; one stepson Aaron (Julie) Ashby of Las Vegas, Nev.; three Daughters: Jean (Floyd) Holmes of Modoc, SC, Beverly Bell of Crete, Ill., and Jackie (Joe) Rumatz of Park Forest, Ill.; one stepbrother Gaylan (Pat) Gordy of Austin, TX; 5 grandchildren one step grandchild; 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren also survive Ray.
Preceding him in death are his son Roger, one stepson, four sisters Francis Desmond, Irene Reineke, Patricia Drake, Fern Wolf and one grandchild.
Visitation for Ray will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Hack Funeral Home in Beecher, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 12 noon at Hack Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Ill.
