Charles S. Hills died Tuesday afternoon of apoplexy at his home, one mile north of Weltonville, aged 71 years. His funeral will be held at the house tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. He was the son of Asahel Hills and was born near Apalachin. He lived at Weltonville sixteen years. He leaves one son, Elmer Hills and one daughter, Mrs. D. W. Doty of Weltonville. He was the brother of George H. Hills of South Owego.

Charles S. Hills was born March 31, 1827, in the state of New York, Tioga county, and died February 7, 1899, at his home, one mile north of Weltonville, N.Y. he was the son of Asahael HILLS. Had for years been counted among the children of God; at the time of this death was considered a faithful Christian and was a frequenter of the house of worship. Stricken with paralysis and although a doctor was immediately summoned and all done that loving hands could do, he never rallied, and in about twenty-seven hours quietly passed away. He leaves a wife in the lonely home and two children in homes of their own, Elmer, of the same place, and Mrs. D. W. DOTY, of Fairfield. Services were conducted at the Baptist church, Rev. Carl COUNCILMAN, of Flemingville, officiating. He chose for his text 37th verse of the 37th Psalm, R. K. HAMMOND also taking part in the services. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors, who came to pay their last tribute of respect and affection. He was gently carried to his place of rest by his six nephews, sons of brothers. George and Rodney, and laid by the side of his son, George, who had preceded him ten years, there to await the resurrection of the just.
