Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Olivia A. Koopmeiners, 95, who died Tuesday at Pine Villa Care Center. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Legion of Mary will pray at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by Melrose VFW Auxiliary and Christian Mothers at 7 and parish prayers at 8.
Olivia Koopmeiners was born in St. Francis to Henry and Bernadine (Brockman) Pohlmann. She married Henry Koopmeiners on Oct. 18, 1927, in St. Francis. The couple lived in Freeport and New Munich before moving to Melrose in 1943. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Christian Mothers and Melrose VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Gilbert of Luxemburg, Arthur of St. Cloud, Urban of Akron, Ohio, Clarence of St. Augusta, Eugene of Holdingford, Jerome of Willmar, Annella Hollermann of Little Falls, and Mary Goeser of Munich, N.D.; sisters, Florence and Evelyn Koopmeiners of Melrose, and Adeline Ebnet of Holdingford; 52 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Feb. 19, 1980; daughter, Agnes Steinemann; sisters and brother, Veronica Koopmeiners, Brigitta Koopmeiners-Borgerding and Jerome Pohlmann; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
