VERNA OPAL HOLMES, 79, of Willamina, died Monday.
Born in Mason City, Iowa, she lived in North Dakota and Minnesota before coming here in 1947. She was active in the Senior Citizens Drop-In-Center and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and treasurer of the womens' organizaion at the church.
Survivors include husband, Kenneth; daughters Emelyn Turner, Tigard, Arlene Parks, Monmouth, Shirley Gwynn, Salem, Verda Felton, Willamina; sons, Gerald and Frank Holstad, both of Portland, Ronald Holstad, Eugene, Darrol Holstad, Sparks, Nev., Vern Holstad, Tillamook, Virgil Holstad, Aurora; stepdaughter Patricia Kieth, of California; stepsons, Alvin Holmes and John Holmes, both of California; brothers, Lawrence Cooper, of Iowa, Harold, Bob, Leslie, Bill and Kenneth Cooper, all of Minnesota, Dick Cooper, of Florida; sisters, Ella Mae Martin, Ruby Jarvis, and Marion Abrahamsen, all of Minnesota, and Doris Sargeant, of Illinois.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Willamina Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Willamina Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adamson mortuary, Sheridan.
