Elizabeth "Liz" Marion (Danielson) Jensen of Lutsen, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the age of 99.

Liz was born June 26, 1911, in Hendricks, MN, the second youngest of 11 children. She was the last living Danielson of her generation. She graduated from high school in Hendricks and received her college degree from Mankato State Teacher's College. Liz taught second and third grades in Two Harbors, MN, until she married Ingolf "Doc" G. Jensen on August 12, 1938.

Liz and Doc lived in Minneapolis, where they raised two daughters, Judy and Carole. Summers were spent camping at Gooseberry Falls State Park and along the beautiful North Shore of Lake Superior. Their love of the North Shore drew them to buy a cabin on Lake Superior near Lutsen in the late 1950s. Liz and Doc spent all their summers on the North Shore, enjoying the woods, water, and wildlife until Doc passed away in 1992.

For many years Liz continued to summer in Lutsen until 2004 when she permanently made her home with daughter Carole and son-in-law Alan Woodwick. Liz was an active member of the Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church and the West End Garden Club for many years and enjoyed Sunday services and luncheons with her friends. Her favorite pastime was spent in family gatherings around a campfire, roasting hot dogs, and picnicking in the woods.

Liz is preceded in death by her parents Augustus and Betsy Danielson, each of her siblings and her husband, Ingolf Jensen, who died in 1992.

She is survived by daughters Judy A. Nelson (Fairfield, CT) and Carole J. Woodwick (Lutsen); grandchildren Kimberly A. Brastad (Mike), Timothy A. Woodwick (Teresa), Teryl L. Sides (Mike), Todd R. Nelson and Tara E. Evans (Peter); and greatgrandchildren Taylor and Trevor Woodwick; Kylee Brastad; and Mikalie, Mitchell, and Macie Sides.

A private service for immediate family was held at Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Memorials preferred to the Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church.
